Joy and fear.

February 14, Saint-Ismier.

The news from Egypt, so awaited, so very good, fell on a night when something wrong about Dylan or Nicolas was again at the center of my universe, and so the joy went, swallowed by my little world of worry, little world of primal fear, sickness and death against the joy of my children's very life and against the joy of a revolution prevailing, finally, in relative, miraculous peace.
And so it is, of the world of mothers, and that of people, condemned between joy and fear.

Are you not going back on the circus this year?

In terms of publishing... Your strength here is the photographs. You have two options, I would think: organize an exhibition of the photographs or self-publish the journal. Latter model has worked for at least one good pal of mine after she was dropped by her publisher. Of course, she had a name and a fairly large target audience who were prepared to buy her self-published memoir -- when the Amazon numbers got high enough, a mainstream publisher picked the book up.

You are, of course, a fabulous photographer. Always meant to ask -- what camera are you using?

Oh thank you, Patrizia... I don't know that I deserve such praise.
I photograph with a fairly old, fairly low-tech camera, a Nikon D70, bought used from a friend.
Always dreamed of trying out a medium format, or, on the opposite end of the stealth and style scale, a Leica.
Would love to discuss further the self-publishing options you are talking about, could you email me at valerieberta@hotmail.com?
And yes, we're going back to the circus in March, with a semester of schooling for the kids behind us.

You totally deserve such praise. You're an amazing photographer. I'll probably message you on FB if that's okay.
