Kelleys Island.

August 4, Kelleys Island.

We all took the ferry with everything and our house.
Seven ferries total to get the circus onto the island, big trucks and small trucks, animals and humans, over a little more than three nautical miles of Lake Erie. Upon arrival we were greeted by crowds worth a movie star sighting, but also just a family by the street waving and shouting "Welcome!", people lining around the circus, watching, then cheering like Elvis fans when the elephants were unloaded from their truck. John had told us a few days back the circus was hugely popular here; we were not disappointed.
Kelleys Island is a small island, some four square miles, between Toledo and Cleveland on Lake Erie. On the ferry ride Dylan got up to the captain's platform in his father's arms, loving every minute of the trip, while I held Nicolas and walked around the dock, squeezing past the cars and trucks, a seemingly oversized cargo for the small vessel.

Hi Dears, Kelley Island looks like an adventure especially the trip over and the town reception. Did you get to stay more than one day? Dylan and Peanut are ok now? We saw Circus Vargas Friday night. 17 of us from Playland went. Richard,Frank,BOb,me,Margaret, Alana,Jordie, the segals,Al and Sandy,Zipp,Pat,Jo,And 2 new volunteers. We didn't have to pay so purchased some souveniers. Richard told everyone that it was tradition to bring treats so treats were brought.Only a few performers joined us but I enjoyed visiting. John Weiss was in the Amazing Race 2002. I asked and he showed us the stuff from that time. Since we watch that show it was a treat to see and touch all his souveniers from that adventure. He and his wife are very nice. They didn't have a program so I got a coloring book and had the performers sign it. Bob, Steve Segal and I had our picture taken with a huge albano snake draped around us. The cats are fine. We still have the same 3 hungary eaters. The peacock is losing his tail feathers. I always look to add to my collection. Thanks for pictures. I am glad you replaced that crunched volkswagon photo.Love Hugs and Kisses Beverly and Bob
